On May 13, 2026, Pope Leo XIV announced the appointment of Fr. Emilio Biosca, OFM, Cap., to be the next Bishop of the Diocese of Venice, Florida.
Bishop-elect Biosca is a Capuchin Franciscan priest who most recently served as the pastor at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C. While Youth Apostles is no stranger to the Franciscan way of life, Biosca has a special place in the heart of our community.

Bishop-elect Biosca was born in Colorado Springs and grew up in Northern Virginia. As a high school student, he participated in the Catholic Life Community (CLC) run by Youth Apostles at St. Leo the Great Church, which was moderated by Fr. Peter Nassetta, YA, who was a consecrated layman at the time.
While discerning his call to the priesthood in college, Biosca participated in Youth Apostles until he ultimately applied and was accepted into the Capuchin order.
